Lake Manyara Serena Lodge is perched on the Mto wa Mbu escarpment and has great views over Tanzania’s Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara National Park about 300m below. The soda lake is known for its birds of prey and also the rare tree-climbing lions living in the woodland that nestles between the lake and the Rift Valley.

The rooms are housed in circular, double-storey, white-washed ‘rondavels’ (traditional circular buildings with conical thatched roofs), which are strung out along the edge of the cliff so as to allow for maximum views.

A Lodge offers a range of activities: morning and afternoon game drives around the Lake; night game drives; boating trips and canoeing safaris on the Lake; mountain biking; morning bird walks, and day trips to nearby Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park.

The Lodge is about 130 kilometres from Arusha, and by road the journey takes approximately 2½ hours. There is an airstrip next to the Lodge.
