Olerai House is a beautiful colonial style farm on the Naivasha lakeshore. The house – constructed from local wood and stone – is surrounded by tropical gardens and lawns created by the conversion of farmland into a wildlife sanctuary in which giraffe, gazelles and zebra freely wander.
The house has 5 individually decorated country-style en suite double bedrooms that are open to the gardens (the “Saba” is a spacious family room). Meals are prepared from fresh organically grown farm produce.
Olerai House offers plenty of local activities: horse riding and bush walks within the snactuary, a visist and picnic on Crescent Island; or further afield, excursions to Hells Gate and Lake Nakuru National Parks, as well as to Lake Bogoria (a soda lake) to view the flamingos. More strenuosly, Mount Longonot – an extinct volcano – can be climbed.
Olerai House can be reached by road from Nairobi (2 hours) or by charter flight to the nearby airstrip.
